wait. what?!

can somebody PLEASE tell me what the deal was with the clothes in the pool....

the only thing i can think of is it had to do with his wife & her lover doing it in the pool, which would probably make them HER clothes, since the lover would, in all likelihood, have had to retrieve his in order to go home.

and re: the wife's affair...
as far as i can tell, the only time it's referenced is in one of his "stalking" scenes. françois is sitting in his car across from a house & you see his wife & a man come out & she's adjusting her clothes (doing up the front of her shirt). she then kisses the man on the cheek & they both get into separate cars & leave. françois appears completely unmoved.... no observable jealousy, no anger, nothing. it's almost like he's just keeping tabs on her, that's it. i mean, he really looks as though just sitting in his car outside peoples houses could be a simple hobby! LOL (but it's not...) and then he just drives away.

WTF?!

and yet, i don't think i'm that bright, so i'm guessing the clothes in pool don't have anything to do w/ the wife & her bf.

thoughts? .....guesses?

I think it's symbolic. I doesn't make any sense to the story if you try to look at it literally. Someone else on here suggested it was like a stirring up of dark secrets. Something hidden that rises to the surface. I kind of like looking at it that way.
