Surprisingly good film

This Hollywood flick did a good job preparing for the film. I didn't notice any spelling errors which are really common when yanks make films about commies. Damn, they even used original Russian tea glass holders. Hope is not lost.

I wasn't impressed with the acting in this film at all.
Enough comments already about the lack of Russian accents, but the American actors portraying
Soviet sailors just didn't come across to me as genuine.

Take David Duchovny for example.
He wasn't too convincing as a KGB agent in my opinion.
Even the actor playing the part of the captain didn't seem like a commanding figure.
Like someone who could really be in charge of a sub.
Maybe I'm thinking in terms of "Hunt For Red October".
I thought the Soviet sailors in that movie more convincing than this.

I think the whole point of the movie was to let us know that something
like this did happen, and could have been a disaster, but maybe some russians
on the sub were heroes.

this movie had a small budget compare to other big films, 18 million.
Also with movies like this they have a short shooting schedule, which
inhibits making it as realistic as some may want.

I thought it was a good film.
I had not known about this possible scenario.
If a war was averted, those on the sub were heroes.
