WHAAAAAAAAAT???????!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They remake Pusher? They remake Pusher?!!! They remake Pusher a second time?

Why? Why would they do that?! No! Please don't! Well, I can always enjoy the old movie(haven't seen the other ones yet), and Zlato Burnic will be Milo again so it won't ruin the original completely. It was a good choise to have him play his iconic role again. Zlato Burnic owns that part, and this way people who never heard of the original will still see him as Milo.

Du har *beep* meg Frank!

Yeah, I know. My sentiments exactly. I think I actually called it "sacrilege" somewhere else but then I saw that they brought Zlatko Buric back. Since he's a bit older now, I can see him making the character of Milo out to be almost a Godfather character. I don't know. I'll watch it but only because he's in it. If they had left him out, you couldn't pay me to see it.

reply

I doubt it matches up to the original but it wouldn't surprise me if turns out to better than the Indian remake.

reply

Anything would be better than the Indian remake.

reply

Which is the Indian remake?

reply

The only other remake besides this one. The one with one all the indians in it.

Would have a chance with some better actors. It's better than America doing it I suppose.

But why would Nicholas Winding Refn allow this? His career is just peaking with Drive so he can't be needing the exposure. I would say he should direct the English remake himself but look how Michael Haneke screwed up with Funny Games.

Also Géla Babluani with 13 Tzameti / 13

Original: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0475169/

Remake by same director: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0798817/

An absolute terrible American remake to 13Tzameti and the same foreign director did it & it sucked. 13 Isn't a film that needs a star studded cast. Why people gotta screw with the original!!!!!!!!!

reply

better actors?

Kim Bodnia was brilliant
and Mads Mikkelsen? is he bad?

I once convinced a woman I was Kevin Costner... because I believed it myself.

reply

I was actually talking about the actors they currently have for the remake, not the original.

Just noticed they got Zlatko Buric back on for the role of Milo though, which is pretty awesome. Richard Coyle is a bit nowhere, I liked him in Coupling and Human Traffic though, and Bronson Webb kinda just looks like a Chav/Demon imp. Even the director is quite average.

Like you said: they're no Bodnia and Mikkelsen. But the most important ingredient they're missing is Nicholas Winding Refn.

reply

so basicially you wanted a remake with all the same actors and director? hahahaahahahahahaha

reply

Eh

I just caught the film, and was absolutely floored by it. I figured they might use the name of Pusher and Refn to sell a potentially limp, lifeless re-packaging of a generic crime thriller, but no. The acting is fantastic, and the visual look is great. It's borrowing from Refn, but there's a lot worse people to ape the style of out there.
Runs smoothly, packed full of great scenes, the film plays and plays well. It's a remake that works.

I just want my kids back.

Funny Games was a shot for shot remake. So I don't think Haneke messed up...perhaps the casting but still. Just as effective for me.

reply

To digress: It's not to say I think Haneke messed up in how he made the English Funny Games, just that he made it in the first place.

Essentially he just wanted to expose it to a larger audience but something just got lost in the translation somehow. I think even he himself realised it, which is why he hasn't really mentioned anything about trying an English production again. I won't go into too much details but something visceral was left out, perhaps Europeans are more believable as nihilists?

reply

Felt the exact same way.

The movie was perfect the first time...

If you haven't seen Pusher 2 or 3 you should check them out ASAP.

reply

Haneke at least directed both films, whereas, Refn allowed this amateur Luis Prieto to stain Refn's reputation ultimately. Perhaps not directly but certainly indirectly with this mediocre 'remake'.

reply

Good movie, but so many moments I was like wtf. Why didn't he just kill Milo when he had the gun and the chance where they were about to cut off his finger?

reply

I agree 100% with the OP. Why remake an absolute classic movie? Why even try?!! The original is perfect, why mess with that?

reply

Ya, dont waste money on this people, just go to amazon and buy the original trilogy (:
