Script writers are *still* copying exact whole scenes from Gladiator, all they did was add a volcano. Amazing how much these movies owe to the original.

shareI feel what you are saying, but when Gladiator came out in 2000, it was such a hit that it reinvigorated big time actors and directors into doing these movies again. Before Gladiator there was a lull in the quality of actor and director you could get for these kinds of films.
Now we have had a glut of them that all feel the same.
Without Gladiator I would say 300 definitely doesnt get made. Without 300 then you wouldnt have the movies after it so....there it is.
The idea of the Anderson was let's make the movie gladiator but with a volcano and weak actors.
