Teenage Kicks
I've always thought this song overrated. I'm not stupid enough to say it's crap, because I know music is a very subjective thing and I would never decry anyone else's taste, it's just that I like a lot of punk and new wave and I generally tended to go along with John Peel's taste (until he went off the rails in his last few years - again, in my humble opinion!) yet this has always left me cold.
To my ears, it's a bog standard, meat and potatoes song that sounds like it might have been written in ten minutes. Some wonderful songs probably WERE written in ten minutes, but this doesn't have that simplistic magic to my ears. The Undertones went on to do some great stuff (and some ordinary stuff) but it baffles me how such an ordinary song has become so iconic.
Awight we're The Daamned we're a punk baand and this is called Carn't Be Appy T'day!
