This seems NOTHING like Bridesmaids.
This movie actually seems more funny and realistic. The only thing similar is that both are revolved around weddings.

she wrote the play as an exercise for a writing class at N.Y.U.
She was doing a series of treatises on the Seven Deadly Sins.
This one is Gluttony.
Watch all the references to overindulging in one way or another:
too much cocaine, and bulimia.
And an overweight bride.
It then turned into a play, which was then adapted into the film.
That's the way I understand it, anyway.
