the Gibson *spoiler*

I swear, I thought he was going to give the guitar to his daughter. First, when he took it to the meeting with her; then I was so sure, when she said she was in a band.
I could just SEE the scene going:
Hey! forget about it, man!
I've changed my mind about selling it.
then . . .
He hands the guitar & case to her.

Think about it. He didn't need money to get back to Scotland; ICE would send him regardless.

Anyway, that's my thoughts about one possible plot direction in a great movie.
I really liked this human drama movie!

That would have been an obvious path, one I also expected. But looking back, he used the money for something better. It's allowing his daughter to visit him in Scotland. He has a chance to finally face his history, to make amends.

I agree, i thought that too, we were probably meant to think that way.

The biggest flaw in the movie is the role of that guitar. A 1960 sunburst les paul is worth about 200,000.
