A movie that never goes anywhere
With a name like The Time Being, you expect this movie to go somewhere. Somewhere unexpected. Some place that's deep, complex. You'd expect an intricate plot, weaving threads together into a fascinating pattern.
Instead, you get a film that goes nowhere. With a plot as shallow as a puddle. A "mystery" that is so obvious that you don't care if it gets solved or not. A tale told in the manner of a children's book -- as boringly straightforward as possible.
This is a film that begged for a non-narrative structure. It's beautiful and very well-acted, but it desperately needed a non-linear timeline or something -- anything -- to break the monotony of a mystery without a story to tell.
