A word of advice to director Anne K Black. Please, please go back to directing school, get some jobs as 2nd director for a while so you can develop some skill around actors, cameras and editing.
The Crown and the Dragon is simply very poorly made, poorly acted, poorly shot and poorly cut. All this lies squarely at the feet of Ms Black. Production design (save the abysmal CGI) is OK and so it should with 12 other titles to Ms Black's credit.
Simple errors like stereotyped characters that don't develop, a heroine that starts out as a dizzy blonde and ends up just dizzy and simple errors such as a dress dragged through the mud in one scene then pristinely clean in the next.
This is 101 stuff and the story deserved better.
Anne's previous film garnered a 3.9 from over 1,000 viewers. That would be generous for this film - a 3.0 from me.

I didn't think the directing was that bad to be honest, I think the script wasnt great which she co wrote. For the budget , I thought it seemed fairly well put together. I do agree about the stereotyped characters ( but like i said thats a scripting issue ) , But i thought the acting was fairly decent , they were some interesting things done shot wise. I love the Cloaked bad guy who turned into crows. I did think it was a tad melodramatic and focused a bit too much on the romance side of things which made it a bit boring. The final confrontation with the dragon was also lame. But, Ive seen far worse fantasy movies. Mark Atkins for example has diected a number of fantasy movies , and they truely are rubbish.
Dont get me wrong, i certainly dont she she is excellent, but i certainly wouldnt call it a bad movie. An average low budget fantasy movie ultimatley
