How I long for a cold hard ending

Remember when films used to have endings? I mean real, unambiguous endings? Dorothy made it home, Jaws got blown to smithereens and Satan got to live because Gregory Peck wasn't quick enough with the stakes. I do miss those and I think we should get a percentage of our money back or a discount for the sequel/prequel if we are left in any doubt as to the outcome of the movie. Maybe just once, for old times sake. A beginning, a middle and an END is all I ask.
