Frank and Roxy are hypocrites

Frank should've killed his daughter who is basically spoiled lil brat
also he shouldn't have had a job if he truly despised people that make fun of someone who is weak and disadvantaged in our society
having a job means that he beat others to get that job
by doing so other people will likely to get worse paying/prestigious jobs or unemployed
therefore he is causing others to be regarded as inferior and disadvantaging them socially and economically
and Roxy is a hypocrite in that she continuously asked Frank whether she is beautiful or not
why would other person's view on beauty matter to her if she didn't like media portrayals and pretentious people
they both seemed like very subjective and repulsed in terms of accepting differences in people

it is really dangerous to think that your views are the only correct ones and to think that you can change the society by yourself

There is obviously something wrong with both of them, but it's a dark comedy. People in dark comedies are normally terrible people, people capable of judging others and playing God. It's funny, because part of us loves what they are doing no matter how horrible it is. So the joke is on us and of course the joke is also on those that we decide are the big bads in our disgusting society.

Just look at the most popular threads on this board: They are cruel and they are polarizing. One side telling the other side that THEY are the bigots and they are what's wrong with America. What's wrong with America is that people take one side and stay with it, unwilling to think for themselves or see their fellow man as any more than another brainwashed idiot. We need to be able to have honest conversations and debates about these issues that our society faces without whipping out hurtful labels that divide us.

Frank and Roxy thinking they can make a difference by going on a killing rampage is wrong, and most of us would call them lunatics if this really happened, and while they deem many of these people that they kill as what's wrong with society, most of these people are really nothing if we stopped paying so much attention to them. Except the rude movie goers... those people need to be kicked out by theater staff, because film patrons pay enough for such quality control to be provided.

IT DOESNT MATTER WHAT YOU THINK...

and sometimes you just have to smash someones cellphone at the theater,or throw your food at the fast food worker who got it wrong,or beat the *beep* out of the *beep* who cuts you off in the parking lot.sometimes violence is what it takes to make a point.either way columbine didnt stop bullying, police dont stop crime, and guns dont kill people, people kill people.violence wont stop everyone or teach everyone a lesson cuz everyone thinks it cant happen to them, but it can sure happen to the person you are smashing in the face at that moment.and thats a step in the right direction.

And why are you so entitled to hurt these people?

Well, if I followed your model of vigilante justice, I would break the keyboards of people who don't know how to use the space bar.

I don't think the film ever works on the stance that Frank and Roxy are reasonable, sane people whose voices are infallible.

Frank and Roxy were both very damaged people, they weren't "heroes" of the movie, they were anti-heroes. You weren't supposed to necessarily like them as people, but the message of the movie is right on.

In the scene discussing gun control Roxy says something to the extent of "but then every nutjob will have a gun."

This is very obviously referring to the fact that both of them are nutjobs and shouldn't have a gun.

I get the fact that Frank and Roxy were anti-heroes, and I posted that exact same comment in another thread. However, that doesn't automatically mean that the movie was good. As I stated in that other thread, I think the movie did a good job of depicting the mean spirited, shallow nature of 21st century America and how that's whipped up by the MSM. And I ALSO think it did a reasonably good job of showing how armchair vigilantism and playing god is inherently wrong, even though it's very tempting sometimes to think, although not act, along those lines. By the same token, I think the movie got lost along the way, had too many instances in which suspension of disbelief was too over the top even for a satire (or a Tarantino-like farce), and that's why I didn't particularly rate this movie very high. I gave it a 5/10 rating.

I think that Frank realized he was a hypocrite at the beginning of the story. He snapped -> He realized that he had snapped -> He killed the girl -> He knew he had become what he hated -> He knew that the only way to kill what you hate when you hate what you've become is to commit suicide.

And then Roxy's speech simply gave him the idea that "*beep* it, if I'm already planning on dying then I might as well die in a big way".

I don't know if Roxy can even be considered a hypocrite. Her deal was always simply to kill people she didn't like.

Her whole deal about "Am I pretty?" didn't strike me as her needing validation from society, but rather I think that that was more about her having some kind of teen crush on Frank and wanting Frank and Frank only to think that she's pretty. I get the feeling that if some random guy had said "Hey, I think you're pretty" she might have just told that guy to *beep* off.

I honestly was wondering if Frank was going to kill his daughter or not. I also wondered if Roxy was going to kill Frank's daughter, thereby completing some crazy transition into becoming his surrogate daughter.
