I think she did grow up speaking Spanish in a way, but like most Nuyoricans its just not that great. I have nuyorican cousins that sound like her, they didn't really speak Spanish themselves growing up, but their parents/older relatives did, so they end up sounding like non-natives, which I guess they are. I am more amazed that Mark Anthony doesn't have any accent at all in Spanish, since he also grew up in New York under similar circumstances. His Spanish almost doesn't sound Puerto Rican, its kind of accent neutral.
I remember a Spanish speaking interview on Cristina talkshow many years ago when she played Selena, and her Spanish sounded the same, so she definitely did not learn it from Mark.
I think that Mark Anthony grew up in Pueto Rican as well. It also seems like he went back and forth to Puerto Rico as well.I remember hearing that Mark Anthony started singing salsa music to entertain his family as young as 4 years old. Perhaps he just has a greater connection to his roots than J. Lo did.
