The one gripe I have *Spoilers*

I loved this movie. One of my favorites in my own personal Summer of 2015 French Film Festival. I do have one gripe, however.

With all the focus and explanation and detail about the food all the way through the movie, I found it strange that at the end when Jacky developed the Spring Menu to serve the critics, the food was glossed over. We don't know much of anything about what Jacky created which would've been a nice contrast to Matter's comments that he was only performing karaoke copying Lagarde. All that was mentioned was when the critic said it was a mixture of old and new. I would love to know what Jacky did with the corner grocer's ingredients and produce.

This is in contrast to the most minute details of that molecular gastronomy science experiment stuff seems odd.

The movie runs shorter than most at 84 minutes, so it couldn't have been a time problem. Maybe it was thought a focus on the food would take away from Jacky. I think providing a run-down of what he had prepared would've enhanced his accomplishment.

In these food-centric movies where the food is as much a star as any human, the food has got to be sat down with and lingered over ironically like a good meal. This didn't happen in the most crucial part when the food was truly the star and brought the characters the resolutions they had hoped for.

Maybe this lack of detail wouldn't bother others, but for anyone who enjoys cooking, baking, and/or eating like I do, it's important.

I didn't think of it before, but you are right, it would have been better.
