Disappointed - Overly Long & Slow (no spoilers)

I watched the series and was disappointed. For those who value their time, my humble advice... After viewing the first few episodes you'll get a sense if you want to hang out with these characters for another 9 hours. If you do, go for it! But if they annoy you, don't expect the second coming when the plot/ story kicks-in because, even then, you'll still be sitting around most of the time hearing and seeing these folks interact; which can be grating if you don't like them. I kept reading reviews, everyone pointing to the halfway mark (5hrs in) where it gets better. While true, you're still stuck with these characters and their incessant dialogue for another 5 hours; don't expect it to turn into an action fest. What I'm saying is, It's still largely a dialogue driven affair, for better (if you like them) or worse (if they annoy you). So use your time wisely.

Summarized pros/cons:
+
Good voice acting (English dub)
Awesome theme song
Good job explaining the time travel, easy to follow
Animation
Gave you a sense you were part of their lab (team member)
A few episodes kept you interested in wanting to know what would happen next (cliffhangers)

Overly dramatic, mushy, cute
Too much dialogue (getting to know characters), too little story
The basic tenets of storytelling (5) were imbalanced in this series:
`70% Dialogue (What are they saying?)
`10% Inner Monologue (What are they thinking?)
`10% Action (What are your characters doing?)
`5% Exposition / Narrative (What other information does the narrator (you) want us to know?)
`5% Description (What are they seeing, hearing, touching, tasting, and smelling?)
Took way to long to get to crux of story, characterization is VERY SLOW (5hrs before things get going)
Characters too quirky, goofy, unbelievable (young cute friend, weird FB agent)
Conversations seemed overly silly, corny and cheesy. Generally comedy wasn't funny.
Motivations seemed fake (a Dad attacking his daughter, FB agent)
Unlikable characters (Main character, Main female lead, best friend, downstairs neighbor, etc)
Too much focus on Anime/Otaku culture, took away focus from main plot (time travel)

I'm sorry, but how would anyone care about Mayuri before we get to know the character? If episode 10 had happened in the very beginning, then what would be the point? We first get to know the characters, then we get the asdfghjkl plot afterwards.

I thought Okabe was silly when acting as his "mad scientist" persona and it sometimes also pissed me off, but then his serious scenes wouldn't have left as much of an impact if it hadn't been for that ridiculous behavior at the beginning of the series.

Kurisu is a wonderful female character.

You should probably skip Attack on Titan... and FMA:B.

Too much focus on Anime/Otaku culture, took away focus from main plot (time travel)

From this statement I would say you haven't watched all 25 episodes.

Another troll.
2 cours is by no means long.

I know where you're coming from. It's all about letting go of all expectations and let the flow guide you emotionally through the story. It's rare when it does that, but when you accept the anime for what it is, it's an immersive ambiance you don't want to let go.

For me, it is one of the best animes I've seen in my life, though I have only watched Attack on Titan, Cowboy Bebop, Stein Gate, Avatar : The Last Airbender, The Legend of Korra, Future Boy Conan (extraordinary actually) and Dragon Ball.

I'm actually planning on watching Death Note and Monster in a near future. So, I might not be the best judge of character in terms of anime series, but I can tell you I truly appreciated Stein Gate for what it was and in the end, it fulfilled its premise which I'm grateful for since many series don't do that.

I'd highly recommend Psycho-Pass season 1 and Death Note (in that order). Both are awesome!

Have to agree on some parts, I though this would be a bit more serious like Death Note, but when the dumb anime bimbos and cat girls started to show up I had my doubts.
