So it's on [adult swim] / Toonami

And the dub is terrible :( The "sad little woodpecker" lullaby is just... ugh.

Ah well... I'm glad it's on TV here, more exposure, and adult swim scored big in my opinion.

So season two will be on the way soon, right?

I though the dub was fine. Not great but serviceable. I will keep watching it because I knew nothing of it before I watched it and was pleasantly surprised.

Definitely keep watching, it's a great series. The dialog changes are bad. The lullaby Shiro sings when you're first introduced to her was butchered.

If you're interested in Deadman Wonderland hunt down the Manga. The anime's pacing is a bit off and they cut some main characters (for whatever reason) that are very interesting and important to upcoming events.

Actually, they cut out a bunch of things, some minor, others make you say to yourself "what were they thinking?" I'm not sure the anime did too well over all because of the changes made, but I really want a season 2. Manga releases have kind of died down at the moment, hopefully not a bad sign. Huge things are kind of happening right now in the main part of the story.

The anime ends at episode 12. Story wise, it ends right the middle of this arc. But an OVA has been released about a damn cool Deadman you will meet. "Wielder of the Red Knife."

Ok I will look more into it but for now I will continue to watch it on toonami so that toonami gets good ratings and gets to add more cool shows like DBZ and maybe newer animes as well. I think you are right with the singing with the dub but I didn't mind her talking voice and I thought everyone else did a decent job with it. I am kind of a dub person. I usually prefer dubs over subs. I know a lot of "puristis" though who watch only subs.

I thought the dub is at least decent. Some are a bit off and some are okay.

I'm glad I'm watching the uncensored version because I hate seeing black and blurry spots in the original episodes that tone down the violence, probably too violent for Japanese or Chinese people, in my opinion. They also make some scenes too dark to watch and I couldn't see it clearly.

That's what I heard. I heard they cut out something from magna comics. I admit I never read them but they can add something in 2nd season from the comic, if they can. I don't think 2nd season will be coming out any time soon. It might come out next year but they're working on it. Or so they say.

I changed my car horn sound into shotgun sound. People would move out of the way much faster.

where did they say they are working on a season 2?

reply

I thought this show was cool and all but i had about 7-8 questions at the end they didn't close any plot holes or anything. Would love to see a season 2-10 :)

I've been looking for a good anime, I'm going to buy the original just like I did with Efin Lied. I want to see it unbeeped...uncut...

It takes you an hour to watch a minute go by!

reply

Let me know if you find it on Blue-Ray.. went to a few stores (best buy, fye, etc) didn't see it yet.

(I still say the original Japanese voices are better)

And people, come on, read the Manga! It's so good.. they leave a lot out of the anime that I think is going to cause problems down the line if they can't figure out some round about way to stick it back in.

They leave out some IMPORTANT characters. Also, the anime ends only half-way into the current arc you're watching. So it's going to kind of abruptly stop on all of you :(

The show is okay, the only thing I watch on Toonami(Bleach consistently disappoints me and I have seen all the other shows). I wish it was on HBO or Starz since they had Desert Punk. I don't like having to hear the beep for certain cuss words. It ruins a good line and most of the time I don't know what was said.

I watch for the mystery of the show. I don't like any of the characters.

reply

I've hardly watched it on TV so I don't know at what point it's at..

Too bad you don't like the characters, might be the voice actors fault ;)

I always like seeing Crow with the females. Have they shown him run into Hummingbird changing yet? Classic scene.

I quite like the dub.... in a 'so-awful-it's-awesome' sort of way.

Its wacky dialogue (eg. "How big are those titties?") is bound to become a legend.

They finished episode 6. I only watch dub and never complain about voice acting but yeah some of the lines are bad. Hummingbird changing was just cringe worthy felt over acted. But I probably would like it better with out bleeping, just takes away certain parts.

It's really more dependent on whether it got enough attention originally in Japan... the American audience-driven season of "Big O" was just a fluke.

reply

And from what I've heard, it sounded like the show was quite the ratings flop in Japan.
