I love Louis CK

The show was a little awkward because Ricky is from a different comic background, and the other three clearly knew each other for decades. Nothing that Ricky was saying seemed relevant to the others' stories. I couldn't tell if this was supposed to be a Ricky show, and he was in some sense a moderator or presenter meant to keep things moving along, but it was little weird trying to figure out Ricky's role.

Otherwise, I found the show entertaining. Louis CK and Ricky seemed to be battling over who could talk the most, but I was honestly more interested in Louis' stories. Listening to Ricky attempt to come at comedy from a higher morality and integrity was a bit strange considering the level of (in my opinion) clichéd pandering in his last HBO special. Jerry is an enigma, and I feel like he's sort of a fuddy old man, but I think he contributed pretty well to the dialogue. Chris Rock seemed to get shut down quite a bit, and the others mostly seemed to talk over him. That was odd because he seems like he would have been a more assertive type.

Totally agree with your assessment. Yes - BTW, it was a Ricky show. He produced it and was the de facto host. But he seemed to just interrupt the others and want to talk too much. Jerry clearly got insulted about halfway through and never really bounced back. And Chris just gave up and stopped talking about the first five minutes.

I'd love to see a sequel tho, it was fun.

I dont see how Seinfield got insulted. He would be a sissy if he did. I think he was just being cool, and Gervais just wanted to cover a LOT of ground.

Also, Chris had some interesting things to say later in the show, but CK just stole the show.

I have to agree with you aswell. I didn't know that this was a Ricky show until I saw the logo at the end. If he had the "gig" as host, he shouldn't have interupted so much. Chris nearly never got to finish a sentence unless it was a joke from his shows/specials.

I also have to say that Ricky's approach to "getting a laugh" is pretty wierd. I like better what Louie said; If I get a cheap laugh, and I know it. I still enjoy it." Hopefully Ricky will let some of the other "guests" state their "thing" without interupting all the time.

Yeah Ricky was really the odd man out in this. But I did feel like there were long stretches where he would shut up and let the others talk. But when he was talking it was pretty annoying cause he wouldn't let anyone else jump in. And Chris did get interrupted too way too much.

Surprisingly I thought Jerry was great in this. I love "Seinfeld", but ever since I saw Comedian, I have felt like outside of his "Seinfeld" persona he was pretty much a jerk, but I liked him in this, he was funny and he had a lot to say on the craft of comedy which was great.

Louis CK was great as usual, and when Chris got to talks he was funny and informative as well.

I would have loved if they had replaced Ricky with Lewis Black or somebody like that, but oh well. The show was pretty great overall.

ricky loves to hear his own voice i knew this was how it was going to play out before i saw it, that said i loved it and i love all the comedians, even ricky.

I thought it was particularly pathetic how Gervais tries to get high and mighty about the "craft" of standup comedy being about doing stuff other people can't do (considering he has the least amount of seniority in the group), gets shutdown by Jerry, then Louis CK tells the joke about the Gay version of Otis Redding's song, the group all think it's funny, and so Ricky begins laughing harder than everyone else. He just felt insecure and like he was trying to fit in.

Loved that he goes in for a high-five from Chris Rock, Chris never sees it, and so Gervais is just left hanging.

That was odd because he seems like he would have been a more assertive type.
I've actually noticed in interviews over the years that he's much more laid back and low key than his stand-up persona.

Yeah Rock is like Carlin in that way. C.K. always seems to be himself, Gervais is mostly himself except when surrounded by great comedians, and seinfeld is a bit of a snooty jerk who thinks seinfeld was gods gift to mankind. It's a funny show but it ended 13 years ago. Get over it.

These are some movies of mine. Enjoy!

Chris Rock is very quiet and low-key in real life. That's how he's able to observe so well. You're so right that Carlin was the same way. I read a Rolling Stone article on Rock in which the writer described Rock's behavior as that of a turtle. He has an ability to hide in plain sight.

George Carlin: It's all bullsh-t and it's bad for ya.

Surely that didn't come as a surprise.
