How it should have ended.

This movie stinks. The trailers lied to us. I thought I was getting a dark comedy about the double edged sword that is fame and instead we get this 2 hour long A.A. commercial. Lame. Anywho chickiepoo. This is how the film should have ended.
Denzel should have lied to the people at the hearing. Got away Scott free with everything. Then there should have been a shot of him doing some shots, some lines of coke. Then the shot pulls out and we realize that he's in his pilot uniform about to fly another plane. Maybe to like Europe or something. Or Oregon or another country like those two. Then right before he gets into the cockpit, he looks straight into the camera. Says "Here we go again!" Then Winks. Cut to black. That would have been awesome. Much better than this mess

I don't want to agree with you but, as tragic as that ending would have been, seems more realistic. Probably your ending happens much more than we know. But! Would have lost the consequences and recovery aspect and scared the hell out of frequent fliers. The airlines couldn't have that. I like how you think tho. I don't believe he would have told the truth on the stand in the real world.

Exactly. I was so angry when he told the truth. It reduced the film to one of these lame and cliché character's redemption by confession of their sins and acceptance of some tedious moral which are usually unrealistic. Life is more cynical and cruel than these films with fabricated happy endings.
