'Which one do you want me to stick in you?'

I felt pretty guilty for laughing at that bit. Does anyone know if that's from a real film or not? And if so...what film?

*spolers obviously*

Yes I wondered about this too. It definitely had the feel that it was a genuine movie this monster was watching and that some viewers should get the reference.

And what seemed like a blackly humourous scene that the paedophile was watching - with him laughing as he no doubt decided to re-enact it with the young boy - had the chilling pay-off with the boy choosing the knife.

That was the funniest part: just imagine how poor Michael felt. It was like he was trying to tell a joke, and the kid's answer was that it's funny like a piece of rotten crap.

reply

I felt kind of ill at how blackly funny the boy's indifferent response of "the knife" was. On one hand it's horrifying but the fact that Michael got so psyched to try that line and then meekly sits down afterwards was kind of funny too.

Axxon N. The longest running radio play in history.

Are you serious, a sausage? That was definitely his dick in normal condition, judging from any man's experience pulling out out his dick to pee.

If he did use a dildo, then he could just use an erect one to signify the "stick" instead of a limp one. Perhaps it is liberal in Austria to expose genitals in films.

reply

It was his real penis, but there was a split screen used so IRL, Michael pulled out his penis to an empty chair, then the kid sat looking at an empty chair and said "The knife," and then they spliced it together. No harm to child actor.

I didn't find the scene funny at all, especially the way Wolfgang gave his response. But that said, I know there is supposed to be a lot of dark humor in the film. I was too depressed for it.

Wikipedia. :)

Well, if we're going to devolve into black humor, we could also mention that Wolfgang didn't even bother to look at "poor Michael's" exposed penis.

What a little *beep* Very bad audience.

At this point, I should point out that I strongly disapprove of Michael's actions in this film. Black humor exists for a reason. Ask any coroner.

the chilling pay-off with the boy choosing the knife
And, unlike the female we hear in the film, the boy has no reaction to Michael's behaviour or his question. No screams or discomfort.
A bird sings and the mountain's silence deepens.

One saving grace, it was a tiny little thing.

reply

That wasn't funny at all I felt disgusted by it, it might be funny in the original movie he was watching depending on the context it was used I can't tell since I don't know which movie that was, but certainly not funny when Michael used it, it was horrifying.

In American film Short Cuts http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0108122/, I clearly saw a scene when few guys went to a river and peed, the film actually shot the guys pulled out their weenies and peed onto the river where a dead body was in. This is a most disgusting scene in film history, even worse than any porn, at least you know it is about nudity about sexual organs and sexual intercourse. But showing dicks in public in normal film is very horrible, unless art is the essence.

Short cut's is considered an "art film" I think.

Why is Showing Dicks worse than showing Violence ?
why should it be any worse than showing any other body part... a nose say ?

If you really think "This is a most disgusting scene in film history, even worse than any porn" you must be pretty weird yourself !

This scene had multiple purposes. I think the main one was to show the boy had given up hope that his life would improve. Later, when he was howling like a crazed animal, I think we were seeing the breakdown of his psyche that led to his ultimate act of defiance.
