It doesn't make a difference. But the first posts I've seen are talking about "white people problems," which is basically insinuating that all 'white people' are rich and live fantastic lives free of real problems. White people apparently, are so rich, that a bad tanline or a broken nail are the biggest problems they'll ever have to face. That opinion right there is extremely bigoted.
...the characters and the place this story takes place in seems to emulate the WASP idealism that even Irish-Catholics aspired to 80-plus years ago.
Oh, and I think the other post is also wrong. Look at the names of the characters, Ira Miller, the Goodmans, Rabbi Cohen, Matt Kazanoff, and both the elder and younger Carson are played by Jewish actors. The movie is also written and directed by a Jewish man, whose only previous film is about Hasidic Jews.
HERE IS MY POINT: It's not to bash Jews. It's not to troll or bash any posters. I just think that when people see this movie and say "Oh, just some more rich white people" they need to realize they're actually referring to Jewish people. However, they wouldn't DARE say, look at these rich Jews. So they safely rag on ole whitey. Similar to Donald Sterling, the bigoted owner of the Clippers. He became 'just another rich white owner of an NBA team. Hey did you know MOST of the owners are rich white men?" In actual fact, most of the owners are rich white Jews. Now if you point this out, as I am, people's knee jerk reaction is to call me a bigot. All I'm doing is letting you know there is a difference. If you look at white people as a whole, the majority of them are NOT rich. The Jews have a word for non Jews, goyim. So THEY accept there's a difference. People ARE of different cultures and backgrounds, and there's nothing wrong with that, but quit lumping in ancient Semetic cultures to Victorian age European cultures.
