Fool me once (Rubber), shame on you... fool me twice...

I love Mr. Oizo, I love Flat Eric, and I dug the trailer I saw for "Rubber" and how offbeat and inventive the movie seemed.

Then I saw the "movie." I don't think I've ever seen a movie that has so drastically, so violently turned me against a director as this movie.

So no, I'm avoiding this movie like the plague. I saw the trailer and it looks like more of the same garbage.

You do know that's not the way the "fool me once" phrase goes, right?

Perhaps it is ignoble to complain...

reply

Even if I don't like it, it will probably be enjoyable to watch.

Does that make any sense?

-You say it like everyone in the world is sitting around, waiting for you to answer their collective inquiries about your watching habits. Nobody cares. Lots of people have asinine opinions of movies they haven't seen, you're just another in a long list of dolts.

But no, please do go on about a movie for which you've only seen the trailer. It'll make you sound more intelligent as you do...

Yes, but the genius part of the movie is that your reaction is the desired effect. It was intentional. I love it for that.

This "movie" was a piece of shç% indeed....

You get it, almost, you are thinking way too hard.

What in the world is genius about that?

I make a sh-tty movie, I know that and so I can expect people to hate it. That makes me a genius director? Wow, where are the Oscars for Uwe Boll?

I would not hate on this movie and Quentin Dupieux if he'd only done this (making a film about random nonsense) once. But this is already his second movie and it has the exact same "point" (meaning: none) as the first one did.
