Dear Serbia...
Please stop making your so-called "movies"... This and Serbian film are insults to the moviegoers.
sharePlease stop making your so-called "movies"... This and Serbian film are insults to the moviegoers.
shareI hope that you are aware that those two movies aren't only serbian movies out there.
shareUnfortunatly, yes... I am very much aware. I was also unlucky enough to catch The Wounds and The Parade.
shareTry with Montevideo, Taste of Dream and The Enemy, two best Serbian movies in last ten years.
shareWasnt "The Enemy" coproduction of teams from Slovenia, Bosnia and Serbia? I have seen Montevideo God bless and the only positive thing about it is from high production values, everything else was seen before, but done better.
I have also seen Tears for sale, which was probably one of the worst movies of 2008.
I see a problem with serbian movies... They are either too violent and too sexualy perverted with unlikeable characters, or they are preachy to hell, with too perfect, too charming characters and incredibly anoying scripts.
Zhey just cant find the middle ground.
How about Cabaret Balkan (1998), Klopka (2007), The Marathon Family (1982), Underground (1995), Hourglass (2007), Balkan Spy (1984), Pretty Village, Pretty Flame (1996) or Davitelj protiv davitelja (1985)?
shareHavent seen Cabaret, Klopka was very good, didnt like Marathon family, Underground was a propaganda trash as well as Pretty Village, Pretty flame. Hourglas was kinda ok. I havent seen Spy or Davitelj.
sharepropaganda trash :D
shareWell I pretty much feel like the director was trying to say... "See? See??? We werent so bad. Everyone else was far worse from us! Yeah, we burned downed the village in the beggining of the movie, but heck... We did it with a great music in the background and we are so charming that you just cant blame us!"
I thought Tanovic did much better, neutral job in "No man land" and that "Pretty Village Pretty Flame" is pretty overrated. Its not horrible movie, heck no. Its just filled with a certain flawor that just makes me feel wrong.
You have no taste in movies...and you watch too much CNN.
shareI have a taste in movies that is DIFFRENT then yours. What about CNN? I barely even see it, mostly when changing between channels.
shareWhat he's saying is the Western media provided a highly skewed and thoroughly dishonest representation of the cynically manufactured conflict with it's incessant, one-sided demonization of the Serbs. The US and NATO have nothing - NOTHING - to do with restoring democracy, stopping ethnic cleansing, beating the bad guys (since we ARE the bad guys) or anything of the sort. The destruction of Yugoslavia was solely about removing a fairly successful alternative economic system to that of the Anglo-American empire. Here is an excellent article on the subject by Michael Parenti -

Leave the gun, take the cannoli...
Underground and Pretty Village, albeit completely different movies, are masterpieces, both in its own right. Pretty Village is already considered as definitive film about war in Bosnia in 90s. Underground, on the other hand, won in Cannes festival, but its content will make more sense if you know or familiar with history of post-WWII Yugoslavia, all the way from there to brutal breakdown of the country.
sharethank you.
Let's face it, people hate art movies. Especially when they are not expecting an art movie"
