Thoughts? *SPOILERS*

Sono's movies are always very symbolic and off-beat/quirky, and this one was no exception. Anyone want to share their thoughts on the "meaning" and main message of the movie? My take was that even when society is collapsing around us we shouldn't give up. And also, Sumida's transition from good to "bad" reminded me of the famous Nietzsche quotation: "He who fights with monsters should look to it that he does not become a monster himself, and when you gaze long into the abyss, the abyss also gazes into you." The movie to me was about despair, hope, and redemption.

Agree/disagree? :)

To me in many ways, it really reminded me of Scorsese's Taxi Driver.
