This movie made Dredd (2012) look like CRAP!!!

I'm sorry, SOMEONE had to make that statement.

For me, the main difference is that in Dredd the lead is a bastard who just doesn't care about human life. In The raid, they do what they have to.

That's not enough considering all the lives he took just to show his authority

Of course he does, why would he have that job if he didn't. He had a job and killed anyone that got in his way, basically anyone in that building was a crook or drugie that could pull a gun on him at any time.

reply

His job was about putting things in order, not killing just because, simply because he could, as he did with at least two people. Shame on you for seeing it that way.

Which two?

You do know that Dredd is judge, jury and executioner in a fascist society, right?

Whatever Dredd thinks is law. If Dredd thinks killing an innocent is the right thing to do, then it's the right thing to do.

Dredd is not a "good guy". Dredd is The Law.

That's kind of Dredd though, that's what the character is like in the comics, he's not a nice guy, he's the type who basically has a job to do and will do that job regardless of who he has to go through to do it. Actually, if anything, Dredd the movie makes him a little nicer than the original character...he's almost more of an anti-hero in the comics than a good guy.

Case in point, Dredd didn't arrest the homeless guy for loitering in front of Peach Trees and gave him a warning to be gone before he gets back. In the comics, Dredd would have gave the guy a few months in the cubes right there (though in his case it probably wouldn't be bad).

For me the main difference are the fight scenes. The Raid was more raw, brutal, and stripped down whereas Dredd had a lot of gadgets and fancy artillery. I liken The Raid to the Bourne films whereas Dredd is more like a Bond film.

Well, it makes most of Hollywood so-called action movies look like crap.

This.

Agreed, this is way more fun and makes more sense.

No offense, but the script for 2012's "Dredd" was written waaaay before the completion of "The Raid" (BTW, a solid 8/10 iMDB rating for me - "Dredd" has less, but for reasons which do not include the way action scenes are handed).

The fact is : they don't talk about the same thing. And no one can imagine Dredd do martial arts stuff at this rate (or you do not know "Dredd" - the comics).

Peace.

but iam still love both movie

I'm sorry, but if you remove the 2-on-1 final fight from this movie, this movie is nothing but garbage.

THE RAID: REDEMPTION - 7/10
DREDD - 8/10

Don't really see why I would need to pick one or the other, they're totally different flicks with way different styles...one is essentially a flashy martial arts action flick and the other is an interpretation of a futuristic comic book character...it's kind of like comparing The X-Files to Law & Order because both happen to have law enforcement involved...

Both Dredd and The Raid were bloody awesome in my opinion...

^^This. Both are very similar being in a locked place, people under the orders of the kingpin to take out the cops but aside from the fight scenes, they're quite different. I still enjoyed both films quite a bit. Dredd is more action film, while The Raid is more of martial arts/action film, both are very badass though, I think TRR had more "HOLY SH*T" moments especially with their fight scenes.

Dredd 3d was so much better than this film. This was unfortunately cheap looking and the cgi was so attrocious it completely ruined any cool action. Dredd had a unique style and visuals, this was just repetitive and plain with a stupid plot in which no-one gets injured even after having their head pounded into the floor 5 times in a row. It was entertaining enough, but to say it is better than Dredd 3d like it is some obvious fact is just ludicrous. This is honestly an incredibly over-rated film, 7.6 is ridiculous. Dredd had interesting characters, every character in the raid was boring, even the insane villain managed to be uninteresting.
