If you like Dredd, you will love The Raid.
Dredd was more matured in script and character while The Raid was more raw.

I just saw the raid and while i did like Dredd a lot better, you cant deny how impressive the fight scenes were in The Raid. Overall i thought it was a really good action movie but Dredd was just another level of awesomeness

I enjoyed both, but liked Dredd more. That movie was just amazing! I loved every minute of it. Can't wait for it to come out on video.

Probably the best post EVER on imdb!

I'd say the raid is a very entertaining film. It is probably the only film in which I have ever heard my mother laughing during the climactic battle scene.

(I am not knocking it. Everyone was entertained, and isn't that the whole point of an action movie?)

reply

Dredd is almost a ripoff but not even half as good =)

reply

Dredd's screenplay was written before the Raid even came out it's been on the shelf for like over 2 years before they started production

reply

Not a single part of Dredd stood out for me, whereas The Raid is one entire stand out sequence.

I loved The Raid, I've seen it countless times, and did not even think of it ONCE while watching Dredd. I guess people will grasp at any straws to moan and complain online to get some attention.

Dredd is a great action movie.

The raid however is completly illogical and boring, Cops that let scouts run away so they alarm the entire building. Noone using any guns but instead fight with their fists.

And you have no real clue why they would go into the building in the first place, noone seem to have any plan and noone ask who they should aprehend, completly stupid.

I gave Dredd 8/10, The Raid got 4/10

From what I can recall it was a child, they could have shot him but that's seriously unethical and when they tried to catch him he was too quick.

Worth noting as well that shooting him was an entirely pointless waste of a life, given the revelations right at the end of the film.

BURLEARTH Thank you so much for clearing up that issue for the idiots on here, you should repost on the Dredd 3D page. It's something that happens in Hollywood with alarmingly more frequent regularity: Friends with Benefits/No strings Attached to name a recent unsubtle "let's see who can release first" duo.
