*spoiler* Could Rama have taken down Mad Dog on his own?

Final fight (Brothers vs Mad Dog) was awesome - and somewhat surprising, giving the fact that we're all used to one on one fights with the bad guys. But it made sense.

Still, I can't help but wonder, could Rama have taken down Mad Dog by himself?
They are both fantastic fighters, and Rama has been through the ordeal without any crippling or disabling injuries. Mad Dog - similar case.

My verdict: even though Rama is a great fighter, he would still lose against Mad Dog on his own. Why? Because Mad Dog was just as his nickname says - he had a major screw loose and seemed to enjoy fighting more than anything else. Also, his crazy endurance and stamina.
Maybe he was drugged up too? Pain surpressors and such? True, we never see him taking any kind of pills on-screen, but still, can't help but wonder...

Just my two cents.

What do other people think?

Well, it's movie rules and both had plot armor. In his fight versus the sergeant, Mad Dog didn't look that great. He might not have gotten any serious injury but that's only because it's a movie - he actually got a severe beating there and the fight was surprisingly even. Of course, heroes and villains can take an unlimited number of hits from kicks and fists while random goons fall apart immediately (which is what would happen in reality). And this includes the final fight - all three kept on fighting until a weapon (sort of) was used.

Either Rama was fighting worse than before or the sergeant was a VERY proficient fighter. Even then it was kind of odd.

I think the Sergeant probably got in all the blows that count. What he lacked in speed and agility he made up for in strength and precision.

The way I saw it Mad Dog was the best pound for pound fighter of all the characters.

Mad Dog: Immense speed, great counter, decent blocks, and overall the best striker of the lot. But somewhat lacking in power (but then again he only fought big characters meaning they could take a punch)
Rama: Had a good mix of counter and blocks with good if not great speed but often lacked the knockout power. (Notice how he often tends to using the environment to help knockout his foe)

Since other mentioned him I think the Sarge Jaka versus Mad Dog was a great fight and that Jaka close defeat was to show just how good Mad Dog was! Think about it Jaka as people agreed on was the stronger man of the two, and he showed great skills. But Mad Dog still was the winner.

So to sum it up. I think Rama would be able to give Mad Dog a decent fight, but in the end Mad Dog would win it quite clear.

I think the answer is clearly no. Mad Dog BARELY lost the 2 on 1 match. Rama and his brother saved each other from getting finished several times only for Mad Dog to regain control. Mad Dog definitely would of killed Rama had the brother not stabbed the light shard into Mad Dog and even then it wasn't over. They both had to scratch and claw to barely survive the fight.

I highly doubt it, even with something embedded into his neck Mad Dog fought well.

If it's not on a plate, it can wait

I would agree with you, but Mad Dog had basically one fight and then time to recover. Rama had the shot out, the blast explosion, and then the hall way fight, and then the fight against the machete gang, and so on. So given that the Sarge gave him such a fight, which I think is a knock against him, maybe in a fully rested situation Rama would have a chance.

I doubt Rama could have won on his own but what I found surprising was a great a fighter Andi turned out to be. After being described as the brains behind the operation and since we never see him actual fight until that point (he did dispatch two goons in the elevator but he caught one of them off guard and he had a knife) I somehow assumed he would be more on the weak side. And while he did not seem as good a fighter as Rama or the Sarge, he still managed to hold his own.

And talking about plot shielded, Mad Dog slammed Andi's head against the concrete floor many a time and he seemed to have taken little to no damage.

Agreed. :)

Rama would probably give him a very good fight, but overall Mad Dog had more knockout power and insane (really insane!) endurance. Thus, he'd win.

Yup, that too. I was also very surprised to see how good fighter Andi was. Even with that deep wound in his hand, he managed to help out his brother a lot. And honestly, even though Raid: Redemption is great movie with a simple, pure and efficient storyline (some would say no to this, but I say yes :D) this was never really explained.
Was Andi trained by their father? Did Rama teach him some skills before he left home?

I wonder if it might have been the other way around, perhaps it was Andi who taught Rama how to fight. Andi being the older of the siblings it would make sense.

But having their father teaching them ropes is a great idea. I'd really like to find out more about the background of the two brothers.

I normally do not go for action movies but this one was very good and making Mad Dog a completely *beep* insane character allowed us to have truly insane fight scenes that would otherwise not have happened. Anyone else would have shot the Sarge right away instead of keeping him alive only to duke it out barehanded. That's just insane.

That could also be true.

It makes sense to me that their father was a teacher for them both - shame he has so little screen time. Would be nice to know a little more about their background, I agree. And it kind of makes sense time-wise as well.

Andi and Rama both train hard under the guidance of their father since childhood, both are more or less equal in terms of skill.

It's been mentioned that Andi has not been heard of for about 6 years, since he ran away from home.
During his time away, Andi gets a little rusty - but in a life or death situation with Mad Dog, it all comes back to him. Rama is obviously the superior fighter now, given he's had 6 more years of training.

Just me speculating of course - we are never shown one way or the other - but it makes sense to me. :)

The actor/martial artist that played Mad Dog has actually developed a system that let's him take an insane amount of punishment without much damage. You guys should check out some of his Youtube videos.

Mad dog was laughable as a character. tiny dude kicking ass. I thought main character would destroy him but when they started fighting him 1x2 I was like wait .. what. All Rama fighting skills vanished against this little guy who almost lost to the cop he fought before..unbelievable.

I agree. Rama only looks a pale shadow of himself from earlier in the movie. Mind you he's had the sh!t belted out of him through out the course of the day.

But it was something different to see the brothers team up on to the one villain.🐭

Just finished watching the film and this is one of my only complaints, if you can call it that. The fact that it took double-teaming and the use of a weapon to bring the villain (Mad Dog) down. Kind of like the hero had to cheat to win. But we've seen it before in The Phantom Menace and Lethal Weapon 4[. Not to mention the hero actually losing the hand to hand fight on occasion (Die Hard 2). Guess you can just chalk it up as the villain being badass and the hero being more of a survivor.
