saw the movie

Is the average ,very average movie but for movie with such small budget it could be worse .

Genres Adventure | Drama | History but above all religious battle is second plane .The first is a monk .Im a Pole and I like history its first time I hear of such person in this battle .
What I did liked are music , uniform er thats it .
This movie was suppose to be about a battle ,one of most important in history of our world and that was BUTCHERED ,instead we have history of a monk ,name Marco D'Aviano .
Another thing movie was rushed cool scenes where made poorly.
And as Pole I am very insulted because my beloved wingle hussars that was not a charge of such cavalery ,it was poorly made for any kind of cavalery but to do that to my hussars
With Fire and Sword it made a mockery out of winged hussars but compare that with this ,With Fire and Sword was many times better .
The good thing is it make us more interest in history and hopefully there will be another verion of that battle again hopefully ,a much better one .
The movie overall is not such tragic to watch but don't expect too much like me
by the way those 300 thousand ottomans there are moments when they disappear

thanks for sharing your opinion. I already guess that a budget of 12 mio is simply not enough for filming such an important event like this.

I saw the movie last night and really enjoyed it. I don't know why it's getting such bad reviews. The acting is terrific, and the script is well done. The main weakness is the battle scenes. The explosions look a bit fake.

The movie starts out in Northern Italy at Blessed Marco d'Aviano's church. It shows the sick coming to him to be healed.

Then, it cuts to Constantinople and shows the deliberations to invade Vienna.

The movie follows the travels of Blessed Marco d'Aviano as he warns Leopold of the coming invasion.

The last ten to fifteen minutes show the final battle on a September 12.

It's really well done considering the budget. I would say it's one of the best movies, if not the best movie, I've seen from 2012.

I'd agree, I've watched quite a few mid to low budget historical films and this is definitely a 7/10.
It's nicely paced, the Ottomans are treated as the treacherous vehemently expansive figures they were, and it really is the perfect counter argument to Fetih 1453.

Ahh, friends. I saw it tonight on Netflix. I'd read Will & Ariel Durants description of the important turning point for the expansion of Islam and Sharia Law into Europe. I enjoyed the entire two hours -- the pageantry, costumes, dialog, and background scenery. When the muslims dig tunnels toward Vienna's walls to plant explosives -- I thought about the Gaza tunnels into Israel.

Scholars may nitpick, but I just wanted to visualize the scene, the characters, the clash of cultures for supremacy. It was engrossing and well performed.

Kudos to the Italians who brought it to the small screens if not the large screens. Thank you. Oh, and the Poles too. Lots of Italian and Polish names in the credits.

It wasn't a great movie, but a valuable historic lesson.

Good story, one that I'm inclined to look into more deeply. My main complaint with this movie was an excessive use of slow motion, which pretty much means that they had to stretch an interesting lesson into a too long movie.

perfect example how humans are were so stupid, and remain stupid.

Interesting how the movie showed how the long, light hollow Polish lances were good for one devastating strike but broke in doing so. The Polish Hussars would then fight with their swords, war hammers and such. Some Hussars carried a very long thrusting sword which was practically a lance itself.

The depiction of the siege isn't bad but is marred by the bad CGI and rather bogus looking cannon and parapets. But the frantic, unorganized efforts of Turkish sappers are well depicted; contrast it with the methodical French siege technique shown in The Last of the Mohicans.

I'm watching this film now. I have Polish ancestors, so it's interesting to read the passionate messages here about their part in history, and to learn about the impact of this skirmish and its significance to Europe, and the World. I hadn't heard of this before.
