It actually has an english title, this movie. Even being french. Why making it so negative? Eva Ionesco shows a part of her life in this film and as it seems, she also decided not to give it such a rude title. Is this because "My little princess" would read like a charming children's film or why?

I suppose it has an English title because Eva's pictures were sold all over the world making it a story with international roots. I think the title is meant to be ironic, in the same sense as another well-known autobiographical movie about child abuse called "Mommy Dearest", about a mother (Joan Crawford) who was anything but "dear". "Mommy dearest" was the term by which Crawford demanded her adopted children address her, while "my little princess" was used by Irina Ionesco to cynically manipulate and exploit her daughter.
