Does anyone agree that the mother was miscast? She looked and acted like the grandmother rather than the mom.
Otherwise I liked it though I agree with others that it seems just too chaste - no kiss, just hugging? It was however a touching and sensitive way to ask Mary, if she wants to date
I thought she was either the other Grandma (wife's mother) or was Grandpa's second wife or even sister.

Micheal Kopsa, who played Dad is 60 this year, and Rebecca Toolan, who was Mom, is 57. Her glaringly white hair was so bright that every time she was on camera, my eyes immediately were drawn to it as if it were a lighthouse.
The actress portrayed a fine mother and daughter-in-law to Granddad; however, some gentle ash-brown color with highlights would have shown us a much younger woman whenever she was on screen. It is too bad that the choice was made to allow such a physical contrast of bright white hair in a family of brunettes, In life, it's fine; but in a movie, it knocks us temporarily out of the scene. .
If this was a very low-budget production, the actress might not have wanted to have her hair died because of being in other productions. She has a long filmography, so is quite busy,

It was not hard for me to buy her as the mother. My hair went grey in my 30's. It takes too much work to keep dying it. So if I look older to others I don't care! Not all of us want to die our hair. We have other things to care about
shareWatched Christmas Lodge with my neighbor last night. She will watch only G rated movies (she is 65 years old, same age as me). She is a devout Christian which is fine. I am also Christian but I'm not dismissive of so much like she is. This is without a doubt one of the worst movies I have ever seen. The woman who played Mary's mother was so miscast, she looked more like a grandmother. I looked up her age and she is 8 years older than I am and I don't look that old! I'm sure she has played Mrs Claus in other Christmas movies. The acting was horrific, no chemistry between anyone. A very long evening for me!
