I don't see it. I can't imagine her being warm or being convincing as a strong non wealthy survivor type. This is a role that could potentially change my view of her ability if she manages to nail this character.

I think she does a pretty good job being a warm and protecting mother in this film. I think she's going to be a versatile and wonderful actrice as she grows older.
shareGo watch Hounddog for the "non-wealthy" role. As far as being warm, I doubt the role of someone in dire circumstances that has had their tongue removed needs to appear to be filled with the warm fuzzies.

shareThis is coming from someone who hasn't seen the movie yet but if I'm understanding things correctly she probably got married and had her daughter while she was a teenager and also in that time period young mothers probably were very common and part of that would have been due to lower life expectancy in that time period in comparison to today.
shareThat was an age when females weren't meant to go to college or get a job. Unless the female was helping around the house to raise their younger siblings they would be encouraged to find a man and settle down. So a female getting married at 18 and having a 3 year old by the time they were 22 might not have been the norm but it definitely wasn't uncommon.

shareI thought she did a decent job at convincing me of her role.. and the film explains why she would be a young mother (although she is 23 so being a mother to a young child isn't entirely unbelievable even in this day and age!)
