Felt bad for Jillian

She had this guy she was in love with. He met another girl and fell in love with her then he marries her. Laura the wife dies so she sees this as her chance and she is there for him in everyway. She finally gets her chance and another girl comes along and steals him away. I feel bad for her and i find her a little sad. You are with a guy he ends up with another and you wait for him all these years. You finally get your chance just to lose it again.

They way you put it I would feel sorry for her too, but she was such a bitch. Not just to Krystal either. They way she was making that face and throwing away her gloves after helping that guy that was choking only to impress her boyfriend. Snooping and going through peoples things. Okay, I'll admit he really should have hidden that ring better. Both women found it simply by opening the drawer in the bathroom.. She was just straight out rude and insulting to Krystal every chance she got. I kinda see your point, that it sucks for her but honestly she should have moved on after he married his wife. They had nothing in common. She didn't even care about his soup kitchen, she just tolerated it because it's what he did.

reply

Uh oh, I must have drifted off since I don't remember a ring incident. What was that about?

reply

Derek kept the ring he was going to propose to Jillian with in the top cabinet of the bathroom. Both Crystal and Jillian found it there, it was like he wasn't even trying to hide it, lol.

I didn't like Jillian either but if some girl from nowhere steps in and blatantly flirts with your boyfriend/bonds with his daughter, most women would consider that a threat :p Jillian should have moved on after he originally left her in college.

On a final note, Derek was SUPER hot, although there's not much info on him on imdb :(

THANK YOU. Finally someone who feels the way I do. I felt bad for Jillian as well. Also, I agree with the other poster that of someone was being all flirty with my BF and bonding with his kid, I'd be pissed, and I would probably act similar to how Jillian did! I don't think it's right at all that Crystal just swooped in and stole another girl's man. Especially after Jillian was college sweethearts with this guy, and took careof him aafter his wife died. Also I didn't think Jillian was THAT mean. Yeah she was a little snobby, but honestly so was Crystal, I definitely saw her throwing insults. Also, Crystal stole another girl's man, which is so much worse than some snide remark. Also, I don't really care that Jillian snooped, since at that point in the movie it was clear that someone else was stealing her boyfriend. If someone was trying to steal my boyfriend I'd do whatever I could to prevent it!

Life lesson: move on, don’t wait for someone’s wife to die or you’ll grow into a horrible person who hates the homeless.

In any other movie, she would definitely have been the sympathetic one. She got dumped TWICE by the same guy for another woman. It wasn't like this guy was super rich or anything - she genuinely seemed to like him for him. She had been in love with him for over a decade and had been there for him when his wife had died and still got painted as a bitch. It was also totally unbelievable that her character would make that face at a homeless guy, while Amy Acker's character (who was a rich, spoiled brat who had never interacted with the poor before) would be totally welcoming of them. Not to mention that Amy Acker's character also made fun of her for not knowing a random Designer bag, which in any other movie, would have made her the mean, popular girl.

As to that incident...Jillian starts it. She first taunts Crystal by asking in what I thought was a chiding, sarcastic way, "Oh, nice Stella M. Knock off? To which Crystal responds, now recognizing the jab, "No. And, actually it's a Burberry." Even then, Crystal's response is not abrasive. That's when Jillian says, "Oh, my purse is Burberry." To which Crystal responds, "I don't think Burberry uses vinyl, sorry."

So, think what you will, but Jillian appears to start that particular "cat fight" and Crystal was just better armed.

No way did I feel sorry for Jillian! She was such a witch that is why he dropped her years ago.

reply

I didn't particularly like Jillian. But Crystal was a prospective stepdaughter how to be a bitch at times.

reply

Sometimes a girl just needs to move on.

He wasn't ever that in to her. If he was he never would have married Laura AND he would not have found himself so attracted to Crystal.

She was awful. It's no wonder she lost him the first time around. Here's the thing: I would have felt bad for IF she hadn't spent the majority of her time trying to tear Crystal down. She tried to hold onto her man by tearing down her "competition". Don't be so freaking insecure. She knew Derek wasn't in love with her, otherwise she wouldn't have been so catty.

Jillian was disgusted by the people at the soup kitchen, irritated with Derek's friends/employees, and showed zero interest in Olivia. Likely the only reason she returned to Derek's life was because to her it was a competition. She said Laura stole Derek from her. To her, this was about "winning" in the end.

She was a horrible person and I hope karma eventually came back to bite her in the butt.

I never feel bad for the manipulative b*tch...she got what she deserved--nothing!🙌

Why feel bad for Jillian when Crystal, our main character, is a sociopathic stalker. She's much better than a girl who's occasionally a little bitchy.

reply

I love Crystal, she's so sweet!

Crystal would have been a villain in most other films.
