Fantastic movie!

I usually watch Bollywood films but I must say this is better than any I've seen in recent times. It talks about speaking out against issues such as daughters not being educated and seen as 'problems', homosexuality, sticking to old customs. But its not at all preachy...the dialogues are witty throughout and the whole cinema was clapping at the end.

The star cast does well in their parts. Humaima Malik looks really pretty and gives a good performanbce. Atif Aslam doesnt have much to do but does a decent job. Glad I saw this instead of Bodyguard!

As a Pakistani, I loved this movie and it made me really proud to be a Pakistani. Shoaib Mansoor has spent countless years trying to show the liberal side of Pakistan, while not distancing itself from the original values that the nation stands for. I do believe this movie is his strongest statement yet, and is much better than his previous movie.

Did you see it in Indian theaters? Just wondering. and I'm glad you made the choice to see it over Bodyguard.. all Bollywood entertainment aside, that trailer for the movie looked astonishingly awful

The first half of the movie( before the intermission), I would perhaps say is the strongest 90 minutes of film-making I have seen. Yes, I am biased with this movie, but addressing the issue of transgenders and the difficulties they face being raised in society is something that the movie, let alone the liberal elite, never bothers discussing. For him to take such an issue and hauntingly portray it on the big screen defies all levels of writing and boldness.

The second half of the movie felt a bit disjointed and uncharacteristic( especially the Hakim's story-arc with Iman Ali). I felt the storyline could have done without that added story-arc. Not because it was vulgar( it was not), but because a movie that already was making such a strong statement about birth-control and female oppression, did not need this additional story arc to tell us about female injustices in society. Perhaps another movie for that angle could have worked out better. Iman Ali's acting was great, and so was the Hakeem's in that story arc, but I felt like it was one tangent too many for the movie.

I also was extremely disappointed with Atif Aslam's acting. This is quite surprising to me, as Shoaib Mansoor in the past has extracted a lot from actors who weren't good actors( I mean most of the cast in his tv serial Alpha Bravo Charlie were military personal!) but that was still very well done. Atif's role also wasn't that emotionally binding, so I can somewhat understand his passive role. Anyway it did not matter in the end, because the women of the movie were phenomenal. Each one of them made this movie full of heart. Humaima Malik was beyond amazing, and so was the rest of the cast. God bless them.

The music was for the most part perfect. Did flow in organically, and Sajjad Ali's Din Pareshan Hai makes me so sad everytime I listen to it because I think of the gross injustice that Saifi had to suffer. In all honesty, that story arc left the biggest mark on me.

God bless Shoaib Mansoor. Been a fan of him since Music 89 and Geetar 93 of Vital Signs. He has been a part of me my whole life, and I can only hope I get to meet him one dy.

Its a class1 movie, actingwise. But I somehow didn't buy the movie like I bought Khuda ke Liye at 1st watch.
Both the stories are hard to actually 'connect' for 99% of us. But Khuda ke Liye was more believable, however alien subject it was.
In my opinion, plotting of 7 sisters, one not so sister..his set of problems(again so alien to us), father working as jailor for so long yrs in a seemingly liberal world/Lahore we see surrounding them(a girl trapped in a Cinderella like strict house directly performs on stage???pls)...
IT WAS TOO MUCH AT A TIME IN A TINY BOX.
- Girls setting up classy hotel in a very few yrs all by their own?
- President gives permission for a broadcast?? copy of which he is to be recieved only after execution!!! wow.
- angrej ke jaamane ka jailor above all almost lathi-charges the media??

I cannot write off such a strongly performed movie, neither I wish to..but END of the movie confirms its phoney side. The director we saw at Khuda ke Liye should have avoided it.
