Swastika Question
American here. I heard it was illegal to use the Swastika even for artistic purposes in Germany. Is this true? It was clear in this film and it's German. That is why I am asking.

shareIt is allowed (in certain area's) to have items with a swastika on it inside your residence.
But wearing the symbol openly on clothes or carrying a flag with it on it publicly can lead to your arrest.
Tattoos however is something they can't do much about.
"Gar nicht so übel, du kleine Schlampe. Man sieht sich immer zweimal, Kleine."
The film makes it very obvious that they are wearing band aids to cover the illegal symbols that are part of their tattoos. This is because you cannot wear it in your workplace or in prison.
If you're asking whether it is illegal to have a swastika inside a movie, of course not. If you are filming a period piece or it is a movie or documentary film on neo-nazis, it is allowed. The context must be clear, if you are making a nazi propaganda movie, that would be illegal as well.
you cannot wear or show it as a political symbol connected to the nationalist rule or in other glorifying way. But you can use it in films and everything concerning history - otherwise it would be ridiculous. Also, when it's used in a considerate and criticising way like in this film, then it's alright.
shareThanks for the replies everyone. Was very curious about this. Sorry it took me so long to say thanks
