HBO is doing Brady Champaign infomercials now?

This whole thing was just terrible. From the outright lies (2% of criminals get guns from gunshows, not most of them) to completely skewed information (like that Doctor who doesn't know anything about actual crime statistic talking about how dangerous a .50 BMG is, when those have never been used in a crime by a private citizen, the only two times they were used in a crime was a case where an FBI agent sold a Barret M82 to a member of a Mexican drug cartel, and the other was related to criminal charges brought up against an FBI HRT sniper who shot someone at the Waco siege).

Even if you are not in favor of strict gun control, you have to admit there is a problem when someone can walk into a gunshow, plunk down cash for an AK47, go through no background check, not even show an ID (hell, not even give A NAME!) and saunter out in 10 minutes without anyone knowing who he was, as happens in this documentary. You have to go through more paperwork to get a library card, no joke.

And an AK 47, the weapon Colin buys at the gunshow, is a gas operated military weapon that can fire 11 bullets A SECOND!

Don't you think that requires more restrictions to both sell and buy at a marketplace than a T-shirt does?

Seriously, if you want to sell T-shirts at a flea market in NYC, you have to have a government license that you need to renew every four months (something along those lines, anyway, I'm hardly an expert.) You can't just show up, set up shop and start privately selling your collection of T-shirts with no government involvement.

But something used by the army during warfare can switch hands with less restriction than is needed to get a movie discount?

I might have incorrect info here, but I was for certain he bought a semi-automatic AKS-74. Which is a replica of the weapon you mentioned. I just watched this documentary and I remember him going out on the firing range and did not fire it like it was fully automatic. Simply one squeeze of the trigger and one single bullet, maybe he did not want to fire the weapon as it was intended though. I myself am not well endowed with knowledge of firearms in general but if the man he bought that replica from had sold him a fully automatic weapon, I would hope that charges would have been brought on that man. That is if fully automatic weapons are still illegal in the United States. Not trying to cause a ruckus, just making sure that is what occured in the documentary.

A vast majority of guns sold at those gun shows are done by dealers and done with background checks. Most criminals don't even get guns through that matter anyway. Why focus on it so much. Also you example of the T shirt in NYC. That's just an example of way too much regulation. You shouldn't need to go through a licensing system to sell a goddamn t shirt.
