Kittens
I walked out before the kittens were killed. I couldn't take it.
My husband said it was the worst film ever. We had high hopes for this at our film festival (Mpls-St. Paul), but it was bad.

It's by no means on my "best" list. It's too unfocused and inconsistent for my tastes. But it's certainly not on my "worst" list either. I found bits of brilliance scattered around, and the killing of the kittens (unpleasant but realistic - bloodless, quick, and stupid ...certainly not gory) was the most "revolting" scene in the whole movie.
It's a vast understatement to say that scene is not my favorite thing to watch ...but it didn't give me nightmares either.

Your husband is entitled to his opinion, but it definitely wasn't the worst film ever. I think he might have been just trying to make you feel better?
I'd give it about a B-. Worth watching? Yes.
It was sort of realistic on how unfocused it was. Kind of like watching real life. It wasn't great, but the worst movie? Not even close.
