Is Amy for real?

Her "story" is almost exactly the same as Lena Dunam's character from Girls. The slightly chubby, artsy girl living in New York off her parents' hard work and money is suddenly told she must fend for herself. And her defense for living off her parents is all the experiences she is having and how she is growing as a person while her father (who is not completely unsympathetic to her) is trying to push her out of the nest and start growing up a little.

I actually like Amy, and she seemed to "get" what her father was telling her (more than Lena in Girls did) and handled the situation pretty well. She didn't start crying or whining or complaining about how "unfair" life is. She realizes she lives off her parents and that that needs to change at some point.

I just think the comparison is crazy spot-on, especially given that both shows are starting at roughly the same time. Or maybe this is just how a lot of young girls in Manhattan live?

Yea, I thought she handled the situation really well, she didn't whine or complain, like you said.
