Was It Really Necessary?

Was it really necessary for that gallery owner to call Maggie back in to tell her that she did not get the job? Couldn't he have told her over the phone? It just seemed really mean of him. I'm sure the call back gave her hope that the job was hers. He was a jerk.

Really? I think she jumped to conclustions. He never told her she had the job. He just asked her to come in. It could have been a second interview. The trial day also went really badly. I don't know why she believed it went well. She screwed up every task they gave her. I think it was really admirable of the gallery owner to tell her exactly why she wasn't hired so she could learn from the experience.

His criticism wasn't exactly constructive. In fact, he told her that he thought she didn't even want to work in art. I felt bad for Maggie. She has a very subdued and quiet personality and simply couldn't express her enthusiasm effectively during the trial show. I think the gallery owners wanted a confident extrovert for the sales position and that it perfectly fair. However, suggesting to Maggie that she doesn't even want to be in the art field was wrong. I'm sure that there are jobs in that industry where an introverted person like Maggie could succeed. Just not sales.
