Less than the sum of its parts

This film had so much going for it - if you enjoy light French romantic comedy. But it was handled poorly. A weak script and inconsistent direction. The narrative was a bit disjointed as well. There were times when it was unclear what was going on and why the characters were doing what they were doing. In the hands of a stronger team it could gave been something quite special. As an aside, it seems every Frenchman models himself on Serge Gainsbourg.

It was okay like I liked Midnight in Paris more.

I don't know everything. Neither does anyone else

I agree. It lacked something. Your analysis of its problems makes perfect sense.

However, I found enough I enjoyed to stick with it. When I think of visiting France, this movie is exactly what I picture in my mind. The locations make me want to get on a plane immediately.

I also loved the music. When the opening credits played "Bewitched, Bothered, and Bewildered," I was hooked.

All in all, despite its problems, it was a nice way to spend 77 minutes after a crazy day in this crazy world. It made me smile.
