She just looked to old to play this part in my opinion. She's an excellent actress and a good looking lady but her part would be been more believable if played by a younger actress.

Depp is in his 50s she is 41 how do you figure?? They were supposed to have been together 10 years prior.
Should it be some dumb blonde 22 year old starlet so you'll be satisfied when she shows her silicon? Try skin-o-max.
If they had cast some young gold digging groupie type instead of someone who you can believe is a writer it would throw the whole story off because they would have cashed in on the story.

The movie was about a man who had disappeared YEARS ago. He was being compared to Kurt Cobain who was born in 1967 and died in 1994. Cobain would now be 47 years old. She was not too old. This was about an earlier era in music. Notice all the record albums she had and Cd's instead of I Pads. Or are I Pads now too old also?

I don't know everything. Neither does anyone else

It doesn't matter what the ages are if she still looks twice his age... Not to mention she's not attractive enough to be cast as this woman sleeping with younger men the whole movie..

Awww, maybe she had charisma.

I think they under-did the makeup, trying to get an authentic pale Pacific Northwest look.

You missed the whole point. She was supposed to be at that "is that all there is" aka "desperate" age.

I think she was perfect casting and the right age. A "too" pretty woman wouldn't have worked as well.

Her age is appropriate for the character and the story's time line.
Personally, I thought she was an excellent choice.
A younger actress would have made this ridiculous.
Maybe you were just shocked to see age appropriate actress play the role. Hollywood often gets that wrong.

Let's do the math. In the beginning of the film she said she had known Matthew for 15 years prior to his leaving. He's been gone for 10 years and they met at camp when she was 16. Which would make her current age 41, this means she was playing someone her own age. Makes sense to me. A younger actress would not have made sense to support the timeline. Nothing wrong with a 40 year old actress playing her age. No one seems to be questioning a 50 year old Depp playing someone approximately ten years younger.
