So the fact that the first replier to the original poster tried to imply the poster was racist doesn't bother you??

What makes 'kiddo' disrespectful??
Well, kiddo, YOU sound like you are 'spoilin' for a fight. hmmm.
Maybe you need to go out and get some exercise... go for a long walk and re-evaluate why you think saying 'put it back in the deck, 'kiddo'" is disrespectful and implying that someone is a racist is NOT disrespectful.

Time to get rid of the chip on your shoulder.

The poster IS racist. So why should anyone be bothered that he was called out for it?

reply

So is the movie maker, as so many other African Americans.

Usually they go like this, the black guys are the "good guys", and the white guys are the "bad guys". Something you usually don't see in a movie written by a white guy.

Eddie Murphy did this too, a few times. And the Wayans.

reply

Tyler Perry IS a racist. I point to the fact that when he was relating how his dad started a small computer-related company (oh, he should have said 'information technology' related, since that's one of MY businesses too)... where was I? ;), then Tyler's character, Mr. Deeds, pauses and in 'sotto voce' adds: "[dad] did have to get some affirmative action help'...

DID HE NOW? I beg to differ! Of all the businesses one could start in the late 80s, early 90s, the BEST one to grow into something BIG withOUT 'help' (pre-early 2000's bubble burst) was anything to do with information technology. That is true, again, today (2014).
So why did Tyler Perry feel the need to state what he stated... that a BLACK MAN could NOT be successful in growing a technology business ON HIS OWN? on the merits alone of his company? BECAUSE TYLER PERRY IS A RACIST against both blacks AND whites... the implication being that his dad, as a black guy, didn't have the smarts to build an empire from a small business, and that white people would have held him back without him having access to 'federal laws' implied by 'affirmative action'. NOT TRUE. Look at the Johnson man who started Ebony mag, etc. DID HE need 'affirmative action'? NOT ON YOUR LIFE. Black americans need to stop buying into the bullsheeat that they can't make it on their own, if they are not entertainers or basketball players, just like women need to understand that WE are SMARTER than MEN and can have the life WE want by embracing our intelligence and USING IT to the betterment of ourselves, our families and the WORLD. If women weren't so inculcated into believing we are 'weak and dependent', we'd be making equal pay for equal work (in other fields not just technology), we would be running the world and as Sojourner Truth said a century ago "...and the men better let 'em".

Life is a journey not a destination. Fear nothing.

I see the comment as more antiquated than anything. I mean who says 'kiddo' these days? Is this person a senior citizen or something?

reply

Yeah but if he were white and had an all white cast there wouldn't be as much hate all over the boards of his films.

reply

[deleted]

Kiddo? Anyway, you should go visit some of these message boards you mention and compare the TYPE of hate they receive to the TYPE of hate Tyler Perry films and other black films receive. I'm sure they are lacking blatant racism and unfounded complaints.

reply

I kinda agree. He should stick to Madea, I like those unlike Good Deeds. I had to force myself to give Good Deeds a 4/10

reply

Tyler makes crap, the Madea character is entertaining but his films are just usually very very bad, and good deeds is no exception. A 14 year old can come up with scripts like his very easily.

reply

[deleted]

Yes, I agree. The Oxygen network would be best, but not until after it goes out of business.

reply

you mean like the ashton kusher movies that you people flock to...??

what do you mean "YOU PEOPLE"? ...sorry couldn't resist

reply

Well Jaye it sounds like I'm one of "YOUR PEOPLE." Yes, I'm black and I'm sick of people defending Tyler Perry and being unwilling to admit that his films are extremely predictable, amateurish, and suffer from the same or similar plots. He's had more than enough time to do more than simply make his films with better equipment and better actors/actresses and more than enough money!! He needs to step out of his comfort zone and do something different.....really different!

reply

Thank you!! I'm black and Tyler Perry's films are bad. A 12 year old can come up with scripts like these very easily.

reply

Whoever said Ashton Kutcher makes good films? Don't defend Tyler just because you're black. His films are bad, anyone can write scripts like his. After making over 11 films you would expect him to get better, but he can't get better when people like you are there to tell him he's doing just fine. Madea is an entertaining character, but the films are overall very very bad.

reply

I liked the message it sent. I thought it was well done.

reply

Having a positive message at the end does not make a film good.

Diary of a mad black woman (Madea takes in niece and they learn something from each other).

Madea's family reunion (Madea takes in orphan girl and they learn something from each other),

Madea goes to Jail (guy takes in prostitute and they learn something from each other),

I can do bad all by myself (Girl takes in homeless guy and they learn something from each other),

Good Deeds (guy takes in poor girl and they learn something from each other),

Madea witness protection (Madea takes in con man and they learn something from each other). #

Give me a break, Tyler is a terrible screenwriter!

reply

I personally like all his films and i'm the whitest girl you'll ever meet.. but you guys can have you're opinions, i'm not going to yell at you for that.. just saying I love his movies. They make me laugh, they make me cry and i think they're just awesome.

@Charly - you forgot Daddy's little girls.. That has nothing to do with taking someone in.. so blah you lol.

of course that makes him a genius. I have nothing against the man, but he can do better than the b-rated films he makes. The people that criticize him aren't haters, they're just pissed at someone with so much potential always settling for mediocre plots that a 12 year old can write. Madea gets a job, Madea goes to the zoo, Madea's new man, Madea goes to church, Madea gets a haircut, he's really creative!. Tyler Perry films, in conjunction with Tyler Perry studios of a Tyler Perry production and Tyler Perry associates, presents Tyler Perry in Tyler Perry's Tyler Perry, starring Tyler Perry. Written, produced, and directed by Tyler Perry. I love the guy!

I had to laugh at that.

Jaleel White (of all people) made an interesting observation about TP on some talk show. As an aside, he mentioned that while TP was achieving a very particular brand of success and employing actors that are usually under utilized, that his productions felt like they were just slapped together and being churned out as fast as possible.

No matter how much money he pumps into it (and his budgets have increased) they really do feel like something you would see on Lifetime. Part of that reason is, he needs some help to make something cinematic. He's got this great opportunity to tell stories he wants to tell, so why not improve the execution? How about bringing in great script writers (and not people you just want to give a chance?), a talented director and not casting yourself in the movie at all.

Madea's Witness Protection cost $20 million and grossed $55,611,721. After marketing and other costs, I'm not sure how much the film will have truly made, but I can't imagine this is how he envisioned the franchise going? Then again, they'll probably see a lot more $ on dvd sales, so I guess this is another success. "Good Deeds" grossed $35M total.

That is really vague and derogatory towards yourself. Do you mean white as in skin color? Or do you mean white as in your cultural aspects? As in the things that you do; things that people will stereotype white people as the only people that do it. Things like surfing, listening to rock music, playing Cornhole, etc.

Lets see...Hitler was white, Jeffrey Dahmer was white, John Wayne Gacy was white
somethin you USUALLY see in history. Genocide, death, killing.

Strategy sound familiar? A system of injustice, terror and psychological warfare turned on another race, then that blame is decoded into the "race card".

well, play em if you got em.

Hey OP how about you do what the title of your thread implies. STOP

1. STOP watching his movies is you don't like themn
2. STOP wasting your time tell him STOP making movies

I can go on the Jackass boards and tell Johnny Knoxville to STOP making Jackass movies. But hey, thats dumb, because you white people call that good comedy. Do yourself a favor and just ignore the existence of his movies. You seem threatened by Tyler's success.

You all claim his movies are *beep* but yet here you are on the message board, pertaining to the movie you call *beep* giving it your time of the day.

reply

If you don't like his movies, DON'T pay to see them. Otherwise, stop complaining.

Problem solved.

You become like the 5 people you spend the most time with. Choose carefully.

reply

Enough people liked it to keep him rich. I thought it was nice and a bit of a tear-jerker.

reply

It's on Lifetime right now, so you got your wish - LOL.
