Norm's Gambling Problem
So, he spends 25k on a 3k return if Pacquiao beats Mosley. That's pretty insane, IMO.

shareIf it's a real ticket I'm not surprised he's been cleaned out gambling in the past. Regardless of outcome, it's a dumb bet. He should know better after all these years.
shareWell, he did win that 3k after all!
shareYeah, and technically it's not a "dumb bet." When odds are that low on a wager, they're that low for a reason. I don't know a ton about boxing, but Pacquiao must have been a stone cold lock to win the fight. So REALLY, the bet would statistically be $3000 free
share"statistically" dont really mean much in boxing. its one lucky hit to the chin and its over. it was a stupid bet. and this bet had nothing to do with him being a degenerate gambler, and everything to do with his sketch.
shareCan't it be both? With the show, we also get a reveal into the Norm MacDonald lifestyle. He's talked about his past history with gambling before and it's pretty extensive.
shareyeah, he says he a reformed gambler, but its a bit dodgy to make a bet of that magnitude.. hope he stays on the wagon. if not, im sure he'll have some cool stories to tell on howard in a year or two :) its win win.

How much of Norm's gambling problem though is really a problem, and how much of it is just schtick for his act?
