Are abridged series the future of entertainment?

Is it just me or is there really nothing fast paced on TV because everything is dumbed down for mass audience?

Now as a kid, I might have liked many movies and tv shows but I don't find anything worth watching anymore. Even if the story is good, characters are too unlikable, or scenes are too cliche and takes forever to move the plot. except few exceptions of course, Sherlock BBC(Not jaw dropping cases but liked characters), Arrested Development(although way too comic at times), Rick and Morty(I can watch without yelling at screen)

Are there any more recommendation for me?
