Not exactly a parody series anymore

Anyone else noticing that the series isn't so much a parody, as much as just a dub now? Don't get me wrong, I love DBZA, I might even like it more than the actual DBZ, but that's kind of the point here. It's not really a "parody" so much as a re-imagining of the series. Especially since the beginning of the Android Saga. Trunks, 17, 18, 20, 16, they all aren't really exaggerations anymore. They are just the same characters, with more adult dialogue.

I guess the easiest way to say what I'm trying to say is that it's not parody, it's DBZ if it were a comedy.

I wonder if Toriyama has seen it, and what he would think of it?

I never really saw it as a parody. And I'm not entirely sure TFS did either. It's just an abridged version. And within that, it became comedic in order to pull out all boring bits. Unfortunately, once it got to a certain point even the "boring" bits became essential to the plot thus the lengthening of the episodes and the more trivial comedic dialog.

For example: Most recently they needed to explain the appearance of Future Trunks, the return of Goku, Goku's illness, the arrival of the androids and the conflict between Future Trunks and Vegeta (obviously going to come into play a bit more once they get to the Hyperbolic Time Chamber).

For all that to happen without their audience loosing interest they:
- Continued to play on Goku's... Mental capacity... Regarding the illness ("Too much bacon" *Goku turns Super Saiyan* "You take that back!")
- Made some wise cracks about Vegeta's relationship with Bulma ("When two people love each other..." "Love each other? Making a lot of assumptions here...")
- Even started to reflect on how little Goku is around ("Gohan..." "Yeah?" "You're a good kid...")

Point being... The story is still the same. It's just the dialog that has changed to shorten the series. And on that note, I'd just like to express how glad I am that they cut out the Garlic Jr. Saga so they could get to the good stuff. I'm really looking forward to the Cell Games. I even wonder if they're going to bother with the time Goku and Gohan spend together in the last few days between the Hyperbolic Time Chamber and the beginning of The Cell Games. I'd seriously laugh my arse off if they hinted at it and then had Goku run off to do something else instead.

Sorry. Post is getting long. TFS FTW!

I'm waiting for the Buu saga. I'm curious to see what they do with him. Personally, I hope they make him sound like Chris Tucker
