Rip-off of which movie?

The basic plot (debunking a myth) is also in 1408.

Later I saw somewhere on IMDb the statement that the plot was "stolen" from 1408. I think that statement is a gross exaggeration though.

As soon as I read the description about this movie, I thought it sounded an awful lot like a Stephen King short story I read once and that had later been made into movie with John Cusack, named 1408. This movie, 404, is bound to now get much more attention since one of its stars was kidnapped and then beheaded by her castmates during a recent filming. Very sad story, but guaranteed to generate a buzz.
