Incredibly boring, stay away

Too bad, Cuba and Dolph are both carismatic good actors, but the script and the production is too lazy. Anybody who knows just a bit about Eastern European countries will have their viewing ruined by the ever-changing locations and plot holes.

This wasn't boring at all. Dolph played his usual AXE-CRAZY killer type, while Cuba was the cerebral one. Being that Dolph turned down the hero role for the bad guy, it was a good call.

Whatever it has going for it, the amount of cliches drags this movie down. "If you go looking for him...he finds you first" or "- But <so and so> is just a ghoststory!... - No, he's as real as it gets". Also there's a lot of filler to stretch the movie to 90min. The good news is that it looks absolutely fantastic by straight to video standards - the shot composition, fights, shootouts - all great. They're far between, but they're solid. Real squibs used. Stuff gets broken. And you can actually see it because nobody shakes the camera.

Gooding's part is really a thankless one - a screwup killer for hire with a guilty conscience. He just can't do much with that and I don't blame him. The secondary actors aren't so bad and there's some funny stuff in this film, but the way everybody speaks makes one wonder - how come they didn't lose those godawful Russian accents with the kind of advanced English they use. The girl who plays Cuba's female love interest is surprisingly good, considering that she plays a stock hero's babe character. Dolph is the one having a ball here. If you liked him in Universal Soldier and Johnny Mnemonic, you might wanna check this out.

Agreed. It had potential, but was more bad than good in the end. And Louis Mandylor's accent was godawful. I have no idea what accent that was, but it certainly wasn't Russian. It also kept changing from scene to scene.

Ha ha! I was thinking the same thing! I came on here to write the same post -- "BORING!" Way too much dialogue with a crappy plot. And the locations suck.

too much talking and too many cliches

My only complaints are that Cuba is pretty boring in his role, and Dolph who was a a blast had nowhere near enough screen time.

I agree. I didn't like the action scenes. I was suprised because this is the same director of "The Hit List" and "Sinners and Saints", which i liked much more.
