Budget: $9,000 (estimated)

Ehhm, surely they're joking?

That is more like the coffee budget, is it not?
Can you even make a "real" movie in 2011 for nine thousand?

Rodriguez made a movie for far less then that....in this age we can make movies for far cheaper then what Rodriguez did.

I could definitely feel the touch of a top-dollar colorist in that image.

However, a movie with big actors and with a commercial appeal for $125K is something to look up to if you're an aspiring filmmaker.

One thing is horrible though: the audio is crap.

Please correct my grammar, make my day.

Im just curious to know does that include the actors' salaries? I always assumed the budget did, but did they work for free or just get paid a very small amount?

“Newlyweds shooting budget: 5k for actors, 2k insurance, 2k food and drink. 9k in the can. We only shot 12 days. That’s how to make an independent film.”

They are not all exactly "Well known" but most of the cast do have a few years experience. I'm sure they were both glad for the work and did it just to work with Ed Burns, Who does have a rep in the industry as someone who works great with actors.

What if they waived the upfront fee (as a favour to Burns) and instead got a fraction of that and a percentage of the profits? That would be in keeping with what Burns did while making "Nice Guy Johnny". Three crew members worked for free and got a share in the film's profits as a result. Since it was an indie film, all the money it made went to the film makers.

Actors in the Screen Actors Guild have the option to work for far less than scale if they want, as long as the film has a micro budget (usually less then $200,000) called "SAG ultra low budget".

I recently worked on a film with Keir Dullea ("2001: A Space Odyssey") and other SAG actors who agreed to take only $100 per day to work with a script and director they believed in. The budget qualified it for the SAG ULB wages.

I'm sure Ed Burns got those actors because they loved the script, and they were available, and they wanted to work with him.
