Ian Reisner calling Luis 'Ricky Ricardo'.

Ian Reisner was quite the miserable little jerk.

The "Ricky Ricardo" stuff wasn't funny and was nothing short of belittling to Luis. Here's a gay guy, who presumably knows something about being ridiculed for being what he is, gay... ridiculing Luis for being exactly what HE is... a straight Puerto Rican guy.

Then there's the gay comments he was making which were clearly making Luis uncomfortable. Reisner knew it, he just didn't care.

Finally, after an agreement is reached about Luis' representation, later in the show he springs the fact that he has his agent's license and wants 50% of the sales commission. That wasn't the agreement.

What an ass.

But Luis screwed up too. After Reisner called Luis "Ricky Ricardo" a few times, Luis should have told him "my name isn't Ricky Ricardo, it's Luis and I'd appreciate you calling me by my name. If you can't remember it, I'll write it on a piece of paper and pin it to my jacket so you can read it. Let's talk business without further mention of anything gay or straight. If you can't do this, I'm out of here".

Luis is making good money in NYC and he doesn't need to take any crap from that punk ass Reisner.

Ian is fairly well known in the rich gay white circles of NYC and he is very successful which is why Luis is putting up with him. Ian is the type of character that I've seen many times over here in the city. You meet them socially and they are very over the top and usually aggressive with their sexuality, almost daring you not to be uncomfortable. It's a power move almost like the psychotic jail tyrants that want to immediately assert their dominance in prison so people know who owns that turf.

But I think what is more interesting was the meeting when he laid down the law and basically said you work for me, end of discussion. After meeting this flamboyant, sexually aggressive gay dude, it's a real punch to the gut to then sit down one on one for a business discussion and basically get your ass handed to you. Doing business with rich powerful gay dudes is so weird because you come in feeling like a king and they suffocate you with smarts and wit and spit you out with you wondering how you got dominated so easily. To me Luis looked like a puppy caught in headlights so this is actually a good teachable moment for him.

I agree that Ian is kinda gross and that Luis stayed very even emotionally throughout that ordeal. But the reality is that Ian typifies a big portion of NYC rich folk that Luis must deal with if he plans to stick it out and dominate NYC real estate. It was important for him to figure out how to pull Ian in and not push him away. That is the takeaway.

Cutthroat real estate market or not, I really wish Luis had told that ugly-looking and -acting Ian Reisner to stick his not-so-cute nickname and superior attitude up his ass. I realize that realtors must kowtow to their rich clients to some degree; however, the *beep* that this guy was pulling was WAY over the line.

I agree about the teachable moment, but with all that money...it can't buy Ian balls! Oh, he could 'buy' balls but they wouldn't be real ones! With his money and his arrogance, he will never be the man Luis seems to be with his manners and kindness. I admire Ian's business savvy, but he lacks a lot. You are known by the company you keep is the saying and if he is friends with that wacko Sonja Morgan......that speaks volumes!!!!

In case you haven't noticed, most rich powerful people are horrible. Some managed to escape that trap, but not a lot. But few of them actually accept to be that horrible on camera.

Agreed. On the reunion, Luis said this guy was getting destroyed on social media and stuff for it though. So at least he got what he had coming. Karma.

Ian is back in the new season and Luis does sit him down and tell him not to call him Ricky Ricardo.
I missed the episode(s) with Ian last year and was surprised to see one of the flashback pieces where Luis says that he is straight and Ian said 'Straight to my bed'.
I was like 'Whoa' did he really say that?

That's the thing, Luis makes good money by working with/for the likes of Reisner.

Reisner is letting his money disconnect him from social norms.

But Luis has prioritized the money first.

Yeah, I just read in the Advocate that Ian Resiner, who is not only gay but EXTREMELY gay, is a Republican who held a fundraiser for Ted Cruz, one of the most homophobic Republicans around who also is running for president. This was controversial because some Republicans were astounded that Cruz would allow a gay man to hold a fundraiser for him, while some gays were astounded that Reisner would raise money for a man who fought so hard against legalizing gay marriage, gay adoption, etc.

If Cruz is "homophobic", then Clinton is "truthophobic".
