Every room he does looks the same.

I love him, he does a great job. However, almost every single room so far is grey, black, white and an accent color of purple or yellow....and a candy dish. Would like to see him do something different!
Once again, he is very talented and I love the show....just sayin'.

I think that has to do with his sponsors. He's probably limited in number of companies working with him for the show. His remodels are tasteful but I agree, they are all similar in color scheme and decor.

The only design/decor store he visits is HD Buttercup- but it's not a chain, so unless you live in los angeles or san francisco it's basically pointless.
The paint choices are all his- as it is his own line that he is promoting but he just chooses to use the colors all the time.
Shade of grey with white border...

Yes, that's the main thing. Every room is a shade of gray. Usually a gray sofa as well.

Every designer has a signature style and aesthetic though, his is clean and modern. Look at his homes and the rooms in there, they're all pretty much the same way.

He definitely prefers a neutral palette and then uses accessories to bring in color/personality (and that way, the colors can be more easily changed out). I can certainly tell you that when it comes to my own decorating, I prefer reds in every room, so if I had a show, you'd be getting sick of my red accents haha!

And I guess people that don't want that style won't call him.

His style has a lot to do with his start as a house flipper (I'm sure that's not the correct form of that noun but you know what I mean). My mother when through a phase of constantly watching shows where they flip houses and stage them for being sold. She was buying a house at the time so it was weird. But I often caught them when I was with her. His designs and styling follows that same look. Very minimal and muted colors. Not that it is bad. I am a book person so I have rooms of books I like darker woods and tend to choose bolder colors. But I don't have an open floor plan so I have that freedom.

^ Oh, definitely. I don't think he can help thinking about the long-term, and relatedly, the potential resale value of the home when he does his renovations/redesigns. And I don't think that's a bad thing at all. The more wild and/or personalized a room/home is, the less easy it is to sell, because most people have a hard time visualizing themselves living there if there's a lot of things to change/repaint/etc.

This is so true! I remember when we were house hunting I liked looking at empty houses or *staged* homes. The ones filled with personal clutter just made me want to leave because I felt more like an intruder (especially if the owners were present!!)
