One odd thing I really liked about this film

The main character (Nadine) was not feminine. I loved that. I can't even remember the last time I saw a female character (especially someone young) who was not playing a feminized (or sexualized) version of themselves. Even the 'tomboy' types do it, though in a different way. To see a character 'play it straight' was so refreshing. Reminded me much more of how I was - just a person, a human being, not a stereotyped female or teen.

I agree. A lot of those "tomboy" girl roles don't exist in films anymore. I grew up in the '80s and a lot of the teen roles in those movies had the practical girl character in it. Don't get me wrong there were plenty of glamour girls but there were some very popular actresses that played the "tomboy" e.g. Martha Plimpton, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Molly Ringwald.
