Incredibly mean spirited and bleak...

And this is from a Game of Thrones fan, ha.

I just finished the second episode and am wondering why I should continue. And yes, I understand how it was back in medieval times, I've been into the time period since I was a child. But this is also supposed to be entertainment. I like my dark and dreary as much as the next guy, but there should be some relief and not scene after scene after scene after scene of innocent people getting killed left and right... or a woman getting raped and then molested by a relative in the very next scene... and then another woman has her father attempt rape her, gets traded off for a cow and then accepts rape from a man so she has a chance to take his knife and kill him... and there's this wacky woman killing family members just so her son can climb up the corporate ladder....and now one of the few beloved characters gets killed at the end of Episode 2.

What's the point of all this? Watching all the characters going through an abattoir?

It only gets worse. I finished episode and said enough. Don't waste your time, nothing but more rape wacko sex and the city lady getting away Wth everything.

Agreed, it's a good series, but very bleak and hopeless, not pleasant to watch.

Boycott movies that involve real animal violence! (and their directors too)

Lol, a Game of Thrones fan (I'm one too btw) complaining that this show is full of violence, bleakness, rape and incest? Come on. Game of Thrones has way more of that than this does. GOT makes World Without End look like a kids' cartoon by comparison.

But I mean, it's set during a time of turbulence and misery in the late Middle Ages, namely the Hundred Years' War and the Black Death. A time when lords and priests reigned supreme and peasants and commoners treated like garbage. So, I mean, come on, it's not going to be all rosy.

My first exposure was the 2nd episode you mention. I happened to catch it on EPIX today, and I was like WTF!! One violent scene after the other. I gonna assume this is an insane show.
