And yet fans love "Logan" for being so dark gritty and realistic
shareI loved it for the amazing journey it was and mainly because we finally got the Wolverine we deserved. It was funny because I had completely forgotten that it had been rated R, so in the first confrontation it was actually a shock to see Wolverine decapitating people and such. It felt real for the first time. The acting was phenomenal as well. Honestly, Hugh Jackman now only loses to Heath Ledger as far as comic book movies performances are concerned. It was very emotional as well. The only real attempt at overthrowing The Dark Knight.
shareI’d like to bet that the Logan timeline itself is destined to change in future installments, especially now that the X-Men will be joining the MCU.
Besides, the X-Men series hasn’t been known for its consistency for several years now (the first Wolverine movie is pretty much forgotten about in the movies that came after).
Come what may, Days of Future Past is a stellar film, and like Logan, I fancy the idea that it can be considered a standalone film (even if they make references to previous installments). Things will continue to be altered in future films, thought that doesn’t take away from the fact that DOFP is an excellent and impactful film.
The Logan timeline was still a normalish society though. In the DoFP timeline robots took over the world

Anyway the overriding theme of XMen going back to X1/2 is that of dystopia/impending doom ..Charles trying to fight the future with his optimism.. but Erik knows how it'll end up ..(he was right)
